History

The Board for Excellence in Real Estate (BERE) was founded in 2006 by the RealSource Association of Realtors® and the Staten Island Board of Realtors ® (SIBOR).

RealSource and SIBOR set out to establish a comprehensive certification program that distinguishes real estate professionals for high levels of education, ethics and customer satisfaction. They formed the Board for Excellence in Real Estate (BERE) and set the criteria for the Board Certified Real Estate Professional (BCREP) designation.

Today, BERE oversees the Board Certification process as well as ensures that Board Certified Real Estate Professionals (BCREPs) continue to adhere to the organization's high service standards.

BERE will issue its first BCREP certifications in February 2008.
